Contributions are Tax Deductible
ECH is a remarkable place where lives are transformed daily. We do not receive any government funds, we operate solely on private donations and gifts. Without your generous support, this important work could not be accomplished.
The Ecumenical Chaplaincy for the Homeless (ECH) is a non-profit, Arizona corporation that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is classified as a public charity under section 509 (a) (2) of the Code. Contributions to ECH are deductible from federal taxable income under section 170 of the Code.
ECH is also a charitable organization that qualifies for the Arizona Income Tax Credit for Contributions to Charities That Provide Assistance to the Working Poor program and contributions to ECH may qualify for an Arizona income tax credit up to $ 400.00 (married, filing jointly, $200 filing single). Arizona Form 321 and the related instructions explain the details of the credit. Contributions to ECH that are over the tax credit amount are still deductible from Arizona taxable income as charitable contributions.
Claiming the Arizona income tax credit for contributions to ECH does not limit the amount a taxpayer may give to public schools and claim as a tax credit on Arizona Form 322 (Credit for Contributions Made or Fees Paid to Public Schools) or the amount that may be given to state tuition organizations and claimed as a tax credit on Arizona Form 323 (Credit for Contributions to Private School Organizations). These three Arizona income tax credit programs are independent of each other and taxpayers can claim credits (up to the amount of their total tax liability) for contributions to public schools, tuition granting organizations and ECH in the same year.
